The Volcanoes National Park seats on five extinct volcanoes, bordering the DRC and Uganda. ​Day One: Kigali- Akagera, Afternoon boat ride in Ihema lake, Night game drive

Leave Kigali by 07h30, stop-over at Imigongo Art Center and Cafe for leg stretching, viewing Imigongo arts, using the washrooms. You may also opt to buy a cup of coffee or anything else there. Reaching Akagera by 11h30, proceed with registration formalities and head to Akagera Game Lodge for lunch. After lunch, drive through the park to Ihema lake, the largest lake in the park and the second largest in Rwanda. Enjoy the boat ride and explore crocs and hippos. After the boat ride, we will head to Akagera Game Lodge for check in and getting ready for the 17h30 departure for an evening/night game drive in search for nocturnal animals. Have dinner by 21h00, order the next day picnic lunch and stay over for tomorrow full-day game drive.

Day two: Full-Day Akagera National Park Game Drive
Have your breakfast early, check out to be ready at 07h00 for pick-up by our diver-guide, ready for a full-day game drive. Pick the picnic lunch and spend the whole day as you will explore the majestic Akagera National Park, home to a variety of savannah animals and wildlife. Akagera National Park has a diversity of wildlife including buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas and many others. After a long time being extinct in Akagera National Park, the black rhinos and lions have recently been restocked. Their sighting is always not guaranteed due to their small number and the hiding character of the black rhino. Enjoy the game drive viewing the natural habitat of different animals, birds and enjoying the view of different lakes and landscape. Finally, exit the park, drive to Mantis Epic Hotel & Suites for dinner and stay-over.

Day 3: Transfer from Mantis Epic Hotel & Suites to the Volcanoes National Park
After the breakfast, by 08h30, drive to the Volcanoes National Park, passing through the off-the-beaten paths from the North-East to the Northern Province, home to the mountain gorillas. Pass through Musanze town before heading to the stay-over lodge at the feet of the volcanoes, Davinci Gorilla Lodge, https://www.davincigorillalodge.com or Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge, https://tiloreza.com

Day 4: Mountain Gorillas Experience
Early breakfast, leave the lodge by 06h15 to reach the Volcanoes National Park slightly before 07h00 and proceed for registration. A gorilla group and a park guide will be assigned for briefing at 07h00 and departure for the mountain gorillas. Spend one hour with the mountain gorillas. The return time depends on which group of gorillas they assign to visit. Some groups are as close as in one hour from the feet of the volcanoes, others are in several hours to the point that you may come back to the feet of the volcanoes by 15h00 or beyond. From the mountain gorillas and if the time allows, enjoy the traditional Iby’iwacu cultural centre performance (Now called Gorilla guardians village-est. 1hours). Lunch and head back to Kigali to arrive in the evening.
